What’s up? Hope everything is good with you. Today I’m sharing an interesting little tidbit. It’s about how you can recruit people for your business at good old fashioned parties… I’m talking about things like birthday parties, Halloween parties, and even the old welcome home party!
But to be totally honest with you, I had some major writer’s block yesterday and couldn’t figure out what I could give you to help your business. So in classic fashion I called up some friends so that I could relax and clear my mind, and the next thing you know – I’m at a birthday party!
And that got me thinking – How could I recruit people at this party for my business?
It might seem a bit opportunistic, BUT, I always say that the life blood of true network marketing comes in the form of ACTUALLY meeting people in REAL spaces. Now don’t get me wrong, I love online marketing, but to me there really is nothing like meeting some in person and shaking their hand for the first time. You just can’t duplicate that online.
Anyway, I stormed up a list in my head that I think you’ll like. So here it is…5 ways to recruit people for your business at parties.
1. Be aware of the right Time and place. You don’t have to recruit people everywhere you go.
2. Don’t pitch your business right off the bat. This is a sure shot way to get people to avoid you for the rest of the night. The key is to gain trust through some genuine friendship. Try your best not suffer from verbal diarrhea about your business and be interested in what the other person has to say about their life.
3. Share your Twitter and Facebook information. And if neither of you have a Twitter or Facebook account, then heck – there’s a topic of conversation right there…
4. Ask lots of questions and then listen. You’ll be stunned at what you can learn about someone just by listening to what they have to say. People love talking about themselves so use that to your advantage. Also, use this time to build lots of trust. People like to work with people that they genuinely trust.
5. Be yourself and be a REAL person. Try not to use a script on someone you just met. Laugh the way you laugh – make the sort of jokes that people love you for (but keep it clean and appropriate if the situation calls for that). Believe me when I say that people love to work with REAL people – not robots that are perfect.
So that’s my formula. Plain and simple. Really, it’s based on the laws of attraction marketing I picked up in Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring. Here’s a link if you’ve never heard of it:

Parties are definitely loads of fun. And can surely be a great place to build friendships; and better businesses.
Have fun!
